Harbor Family Services
Memo from Jack E. Mazzotti III
President & CEO
The mission of Harbor Family Services is to promote the growth, development and strength of Maine children and families
I want to take a moment to thank all of you who work so very hard for the families and children that we serve and to briefly share some thoughts.
HFS continues to be a leader in providing behavioral healthcare to children and families in Maine. As you know, HFS is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). This year we will be completing our re-accreditation process and COA will visit with us on June 13th for their site visit. COA is an important accomplishment and we look forward to being re-accredited for another 4 years beginning the summer of 2011.
Strategic planning and an inclusive Continuous Quality Improvement program are keys to our success. Senior managers communicate your thoughts and ideas, as well as theirs, to me and from there a strategic vision is born. Often times it takes gathering many different kinds of information to put together a cogent plan. Not every idea makes into our strategic plan. Nevertheless, I am always interested in hearing new ideas, and those that meet the mission will be implemented.
An important plan that resulted from our strategic planning is the expansion and opening of our newest community services program located at 1295 Atlantic Highway in Northport. This site has outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment, Medication Management, Home Community Treatment (HCT), and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT); as well as administration/operations and human resources. Please feel free to stop in and check it out.
I would like to share with you a quote to think about:
“To climb steep hills requires a slow pace at first.”
Harbor Family Services continues to provide for the growth, development and strength of the children and families in Maine no matter how steep their climb may be. I am confident that through working together 2011 will be another successful year for Harbor Family Services and the children and families we serve. Thank you again for all that you do.
